I've, uh, heard, that if you were around in the very early days of MTV, you might remember a time when the song "TVOD" by The Normal felt like it was being played a million times a day.
If you don't know that song, go look it up, it's one of the early really big hits in electronic music. It has an interesting backstory, too, which I won't recount here but the big takeaway for me, when I googled it, was that the guy who styled himself The Normal wanted to start a punk band but didn't want to have to learn three chords, so he wrote this instead. Et voila.
Anyway I recently got that song stuck in my head, after not thinking about it for A Very Long Time Indeed, but in the crucible of my brain it transformed into a sort of Johnny Cash style outlaw-country version, and then naturally my next thought was This Must Be Shared With the World.
So I did that, unleashing it on an unsuspecting backing band and a small audience gathered at ye local open mic called The What Have You. It was the first and last time, I assure you, and the entire four minutes doesn't really need to be shared with the world, but here's a representative sample.
